Measuring Height of Building

I. Introduction
1. Purpose: This survey was done in order to understand how to use Total Station to measure the height of any buildings . Furthermore, it also let us more understanding the process of Total Station installation.
2. Method:  
¨ Instrument: Electronic Total Station Machine , meter, and prism to obtain distance, internal angles, and height of surveying machine.
¨ Time: This was done  at 09, June, 2015 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
¨ Process:
Þ Machine Installing: Install machine with its tripod legs and make sure that the bubble is locate in the right place. Place the survey machine on the point and then measure to Point C to observe HA and VA. After that, we put the prism on point B and make sure that the circular level that contain the bubble is in the right place. Furthermore, we start to survey to prism to find distance from A to B and internal angle between A and B. Then, We move to install machine on Point B and measure to Point C as we’ve done at Point A to observe ZA and HA. Note: We also measure the height of machine at point A and B.

 IV. Conclusion
After calculation, we observed that the height of building found by triangle ACC’ &BCC’ seem little error caused by some factors such as:
1. Temperature: hot temperature cause water contain bubble increase volume.
2. Place: My group surveyed under sun light that was very hot and the light affect the vision that very difficult to measure.
3. Accidental Factor: Because of the lack of carefulness , sometime  we touch or kick its tripod legs that also cause some error.
In my conclusion , event the calculation contain some errors , we got a lot of advantages from this practice such understanding the way of installing Total Station survey  machine and calculating the height of any buildings.
